Roundup: Siegel volleyball tops Riverdale 3-1

The Siegel volleyball team handed Riverdale its first District 7 loss on Thursday night as the Lady Stars defeated the Lady Warriors 21-25, 25-22, 25-11, 25-20.

Tori Simmons led Siegel with 15 kills, Mary Ruth Wheeler had 11 kills and Amanda Worrell had seven blocks.

The two teams are tied at 9-1 in district play. Siegel has the tiebreaker over Riverdale by virtue of winning in four games.

Oakland 3, Smyrna 0

Oakland’s volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a 25-16, 25-20, 25-21 sweep over Smyrna.

Katie Arnette had 11 kills an 11 digs, Taylor Harrell had 11 kills and 11 points, Rachel Todd had five kills, Natalie Peay had four blocks and Chandler Lee had seven digs.

Oakland will play Lebanon at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at home on “Think Pink” night. Donations will be accepted for breast cancer awareness.

Blackman 3, La Vergne 0

The Lady Blaze won 25-12, 25-21, 25-20. Santana Alejandro had eight kills and four assists, Alexis Boudavong had seven kills, Alexis Johnson had six kills and three blocks, Jamie Maier had 15 assists and three aces and Jess Oliver had 17 assists.

Soccer

Blackman 2, La Vergne 0

Lindsey Williams and Hannah Bieze had goals for Blackman, while Robin Bolme had one save. La Vergne goalkeeper Emily Dillon had 16 saves.

Riverdale 6, Wilson Central 1

Stitch Leek had Madison Falter each two goals and one assist, and Aston Foglehad two goals. Sofie Callis and Kristen Fuller led the defense.

In a 5-2 win over La Vergne on Tuesday, Leek had a hat trick and Falter had one goal.

MTCS 2, Lipscomb 2

Erin Jennings and Emma Stinson scored goals for MTCS, while Lauren Jennings had an assist. Leah Stinson had three saves.
