After beginning the season 4-0 at the eight-man level, Virginia City showed Saturday it can win with 11 men, too.
The Muckers improved to 5-0 with a 56-13 home win over North Tahoe in the school’s first 11-man game since the football program was resurrected a few years ago. Virginia City plays its league games at the Division IV (eight-man level); North Tahoe is a Division III school.
Kregg Lemmon scored four touchdowns and finished with 146 yards to lead the Muckers. Braydon Ferguson scored three times for Virginia City, including on a 90-yard kickoff return.
North Tahoe (0-5) got on the board first, scoring on an interception return by Baird Bishop. But the Muckers scored the game’s next 29 points.
RENO 1, McQUEEN 0 at McQueen: Michelle Whan scored the game’s only goal, getting an assist from Ellie Small in the first half. The Huskies improved to 4-3-2.
Christina Farman had eight saves for McQueen (3-4-1).
COLEVILLE 60, SMITH VALLEY 20 at Coleville: Jacob Park, Matt Muiz and Nestor Gutierrez each scored twice for the Wolves (1-0, 5-0) and Seth Huhta had four touchdown passes.
Wyatt Duncan scored on a 61-yard run for the Bulldogs and Dalton Wright scored and rushed for 70 yards.
