PRESCOTT VALLEY Sedona Red Rock, the No.6 seed, shocked two time defending state champions No.1 Phoenix Northwest Christian to win the Division IV girls volleyball championship in four games, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-18, at Tim’s Toyota Center.
Sedona Red Rock (36-3-2) sophomore McKenna Woodford was extraordinary, compiling 24 kills and 10 in the second set after her team went down 1-0.
“I can’t even imagine what she is going to be like as a senior,” senior setter Breanna Barker said.
The final kill was made by junior Megan Wzientek when Woodford was in back row.
“We were expecting to come in with a better seed, but we came in at No. 6,” Woodford said. “We knew we could win it from the beginning of the season, and it really means a lot to us.”
