Conversations about this year’s softball season could easily start — and end — with Morgan Parise.
A key cog in the lineup, Sheboygan North’s leadoff hitter consistently assured the Golden Raiders would be ahead most games by the end of the first inning.
“She was the type of player you wish you got every year, but you only get about every 10 years,” North softball coach Josh Hoffer said.
The senior shortstop hit a jarring .624 (she finished the year 53-of-85). She batted in 27 runs, stole 29 bases and helped hand North a share of the Fox River Classic Conference East Division title.
She was the FRCC’s Co-Player of the Year. (Bay Port’s Lindsay Luedke shared the honor.) And she was a finalist for a Wisconsin Sports Network Senior Softball Award presented by Taco Bell.
Now she can add Sheboygan Press All-Area Softball Player of the Year to her résumé.
A year after helping lead North to a tie for sixth place in the conference — she batted .474 and had 22 RBI as a junior — Parise this year helped get her team get to within one game of the WIAA sectionals, the furthest she’s ever gone in the softball postseason.
