Siegel soccer team blanks Riverdale

Siegel’s soccer team defeated Riverdale 7-0 on Thursday to improve to 3-2-1.

Darby Phillips and Emily Anderson scored in the first half off assists from Kelsey Brown and Corey Steinagle.

The Lady Stars scored five goals in the second half. Phillips, Taylor Ryan, Chelsey Russom, Chelsey Russom and Madison Louk found the net. Emily Williams, Taylor Ryan Deoborah Kostrub and Anderson had assists.

Steingale preserved the shutout in goal. Siegel outshot Riverdale 18-0.

Kristin Wattenbarger had two goals, while Sierra Franz, McKenzie Wrather and Skyler Bratcher had one each. Haley Munn had three saves for the Lady Bulldogs, who improved to 5-0-1.

Shannon Miller had two goals, while Hannah Cagle and Savannah Berry each had one. McKenzie Abernathy and Paige Garrison preserved the shutout in goal. Central improved to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in district play.

Lady Blaze improved their record to 7-0. Brittany Terry and Colleen Kennedy scored for Blackman off assists by Jessica Reece and Destiny Summerville.

Taylor McKinley had a goal and an assist, while Madeline Rose, Kaitlin Murphy, Jordan Simpson and Elania Smith had one each. Anna Brock Hawkins had two assists and Kelsey Vandiver had one. Emma Grace Goldman had three saves in goal.

The Lady Blaze won 26-24, 28-25, 24-26, 25-14. Santana Alejandro had 13 kills, Stephanie Gurzi had eight kills, Danielle Ged had seven blocks, Alex Johnson had five blocks, Alexis Boudavonj had four aces, Jess Oliver had 11 assists and Jamie Maier had eight assist.

For Blackman, Katie Arnette had nine kills and seven digs, Natalaie Peay had seven kills and three blocks, Taylor Harrell had five kills, Annie Lotes had two kills and seven digs and Cyrene Tankard had four kills.

The Lady Tigers lost to Livingston Academy, but defeated Cannon County. Against Livingston, Danielle Mayberry had four kills and four blocks, Mikayla Russell had nine kills and six blocks, Whit Smith had eight service points and Sara Smith had 16 assists.

Against Cannon County, Mayberry had six kills and four blocks, Russell had seven kills and five blocks, Evelyn Drake was 8-8 on serves and had one block, and Smith had 15 assists.

Smyrna’s Zach Haynes took medalist honors with a 1-under 71 at Smyrna Municipal Golf Course. Josh Chalfant and David Kivilaan each fired an 80. Jake Forster had an 83.

Cole Clear led Riverdale with a 72. Jackson Jones and John Hile each shot 82 and Brady Lambert fired an 84.

Nathan Pfeifer shot a 79 to lead Oakland. Austen Burk shot an 82 and Robert Fraser had a 90. Austin Pfeifer pulled out of the match because of an injury.

The match was a final tune-up for the District 7-AAA tournament, which will be held Monday at Smyrna.

Barron Corley led MTCS with a 38, follwed by Joe Warner (46), Trey Lashlee (47), Ian Gregory (51), Ben Brown (52) and Ian Harper (52).
