Soccer: CWC wins Waupun battle

CWC scored all of its goals in the first half of a 5-1 nonconference game against Waupun on Monday.

Luke Jansen scored the first two goals, followed by single tallies for Trevor Zonnefeld, Tyler Katsma and Cody Zonnefeld. Gabe Wardin put Waupun on the board in the 63rd minute.

“We executed and finished very well in the first half after we adjusted to their offside trap,” CWC coach Gregg Zonnefeld said. “The goals came in bunches, and we were able to take control of the game.”

Bryce Buchholz made seven saves for Waupun, and Logan Ganz had two for CWC.

Menasha 7, NF/O 2

Menasha scored the game’s first four goals in beating host North Fondy/Oakfield 7-2 on Monday night.

NF/O’s Cody Heavener scored the final goal of the first half, and Taylor Jones scored on a corner kick early in the second half, but the hosts couldn’t maintain the momentum.

“After that, we just couldn’t get the ball in the goal,” NF/O coach Donovan Heavener said. “We kept an offensive push going at Menasha but we just couldn’t score.”

NF/O goalie Ben Giese made 15 saves.
