Columbia, SC (WLTX) — South Carolina scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to pull away to a 23-19 victory in the 76th Annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas in front of 7,000 fans on Saturday at Gibbs Stadium.
Going into the fourth quarter, South Carolina trailed 13-9. Mykal Moody’s 5 yard touchdown run gave the Palmetto State the lead for good.
After a stalled drive by North Carolina, South Carolina marched 80 yards on 11 plays. The drive was finished off by a 14-yard touchdown pass from Michael Julian to Keinan Lewis for a 23-13 advantage with 3:14 left.
Gamecock committ Pharoh Cooper was named the Offensive MVP for the Tar Heel State. The athlete finished with 11 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown and three catches for 39 yards. He led all players with 253 all-purpose yards.
