Through the first half of the season, Cassi Jordan has liked what she’s seen from her Spackenkill High School volleyball team.
Tuesday was the latest example of what’s gained the Spartans their coach’s respect.
Spackenkill defeated visiting Pine Plains 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 25-13 in the Town of Poughkeepsie to improve to 8-2 overall and 8-1 in the Mid-Hudson Athletic League.
“They really just love to play. I’ve never seen a group that’s so into volleyball,” Jordan said. “They don’t want to miss practice or miss any games. They just really want to play well. They’re good at playing together.”
That showed on this day.
Morgan Hoeft contributed 10 assists, nine kills and five aces to the winning effort. Kelsey Carlin (25 digs) and Melissa Cornell (10 assists) complemented Hoeft’s performance.
“We’re pretty much at the halfway point,” Jordan said, “and we’re looking forward to preparing for the playoffs.”
Spackenkill travels to Hyde Park on Thursday to take on MHAL rival Franklin D. Roosevelt.
