WAUNAKEE – Kolten Pope (120), Fritz Schierl 126, Nate Engle (160), Mitch Mallek (182) all won individual titles to help Stevens Point Area Senior High to a second place finish at the Waunakee Warrior Invite on Saturday.

Engle won four of his matches by pin and Mallek pinned Tanner Akers in 3 minutes, 27 seconds in the 182 championship match.

Pope also picked up four pins, including the championship match and Schierl defeated Brendan O’Connor (watertown) 17-8 in the championship match.

“A lot of the guys fought five, very physical matches,” SPASH coach Duane Groshek said. “I was impressed with Fritz and Nate, both freshman and for them to go undefeated was very impressive. It is a confidence builder for us heading into Thursday’s dual meet with Wisconsin Rapids. We feel we can battle with them and it was good to see success today.”

Tyler Engle and Billy Duffert earned second place finishes at 152 and 170 pounds, respecitvely, for the Panthers.

Tomah Scramble

TOMAH – Dalton Gorman took first place at 132 pounds and upped his record to 16-0 and Kyle Dalske also won his heavyweight class for Mosinee.

Dalske pinned Sean Benedict, of Middleton, at the 3-minute mark and is now 15-1 on the season. Dalske also pinned Landon Robertson (Royall) and Kaleb Crook (Richland Center) in the semifinals.

Gorman did not pick up a pin on the day, but won two of his matches via majority decision.

Neillsville took fifth place at the tournament.

Jared Boon took second place at 120 pounds for the Warriors. Jared Rueth also took second place at 160 pounds.

Michael Chadwick (145), Mitchell Pohlman and Bob Hogan (195) all earned third place finishes for Neillsville.

Eau Claire North Invitational

EAU CLAIRE – Nekoosa/Port Edwards Clay Lieber took his 106 weight class with a 16-8 majority decision Bryan Larson of Mondovi and the Papermakers claimed a team title.

Ben Ayres also took home the title at 138 pounds for the Papermakers. Jimmy Masonick earned a second place finish at 160 pounds, as did teammate Dylan Bauer at 195 pounds, while Spencer Hall took third place at 220 pounds. Tristin Holden also finished third at heavyweight for the Papermakers.

Medford’s Gunner Peterson pinned Bailey Slater (New Lisbon) in 3 minutes, 19 seconds to win the 126 pound weight class and the Raiders’ Aaron Harder (220) pinned Dylan Kimber in 2:28 to earn the title at 220 pounds. Nick Berger won his heavyweight class with a pin over Bryce Bilogan in just 1 minute, 26 seconds, while Tucker Peterson finished in second place at 120 pounds for Medford.

Trevin Oertel took second place at 182 pounds and Wyatt Weiler took third place at 145 pounds for Auburndale after earning a majority decision win over Tristin Nelson of Ladysmith in the third place match.

GREEN BAY – Patrick Spray took second place at 106 pounds, as the Wisconsin Rapids wrestling team took fifth place out of 24 teams.

Pittsville Duals

PITTSVILLE – Scott Worlund, Jared Fox, Anthony Marten, Eddie Kleinhenz, Kaleb Meyer, Olie Voight and James Lassa all went undefeated for the host Panthers, who went 5-0 and finished first in the tournament.

Adam Sturgis went 4-1 for Pittsville, which beat Spencer 48-33 for the Rockets only loss of the tournament.

Amherst’s Logan Hermsen also went undefeated in the tournament.

Neenah Duals

NEENAH – Mitch Hertel won all five of his matches at 145 pounds and Marshfield went 3-2 at the tournament.

The Tigers defeated Racine Horlick (51-24), Neenah (61-6) and Denmark (54-18), withtheir losses coming at the hands of Pulaski (50-16) and Stoughton (41-25).

Individuals finishing the day with 4-1 records included Noah Gerdes (106 pounds), Luke Mahoney (132), Carsten Lovstad (152), Kane Suebert (182), Mitch Zillman (195) and heavyweight Tristan Wilson.

Barron Invitational

BARRON – Jessi Maki (145) and Tony Aguilera (160) both took second place finishes for the Abbotsford/Colby wrestling team.

Sage Soppa (132) and Cody Meyer (170) added third place finishes to help Abby/Colby take seventh place out of 12 teams.

Oconomowoc Invite

OCONOMOWOC – Heidi Zorn placed third in the all-around competition with a score of 33.95 to help SPASH to the team title. Zorn was third on the floor with a 9.3 tied for fourth on the vault with a 8.425. SPASH finsihed with a team score of 132.375.

The Panthers’ Amanda Byrum and Paige Kurszewski were fourth and fifth on the balance beam, respectively.
