Opening Game: December 7 at Maine-Endwell.
Coach: Dave Springer, 14th season.
Last season’s record: 20-1.
Returning starters: KJ Rose (6-2 sr.); Jaime Curtis (5-11, sr.).
Outlook: Only loss last season came against Middletown in regionals…Assistant coach Bob Mastro has been working hard on the Patriots defense and so far team is buying into the philosphy that defense is going to win games for them this season. Andre Yevchinecz has shown to be a great defender and Seth West is getting back into form coming back from knee surgery. Salen Turkovic coming up from JV squad is a big man doing a great job so far and is grasping the defensive assignments. Rose is the senior leader as he leads by example working the hardest and having the best work ethic.
Opening Game: December 7 vs. Ithaca.
Coach: Robert Carr, first season.
Last season’s record: 9-11.
Returning starters: Frank D’Esti (6-0, sr.); Nick Mushalla (5-10, sr.).
Outlook: Looking to outwork opposing teams defensively and to shoot the ball well from the perimeter. Key returning players are senior classmates Troy Wilson, 6-0; Ryan Franz, 6-1; and Luke Riesbeck,6-0. Looking for contribution from Nick Wegmann, 6-1, jr. up from JV.
Opening Game: December 7 at Corning.
Coach: Joe Alger, 3rd season.
Last season’s record: 13-7.
Returning starters: CJ Krowiak (6-0, jr.); Rob Malvasio (6-1).
Outlook: Will have to defend and control tempo of the game to be successful. Coaches have been preaching alot about working hard on defense in the preseason to improve upon from last year. Another key will be how quickly the players develop into their roles with many newcomers to the team as 10 out of the 14 players are juniors. Krowiak was all-conf and all-section 4 averaging 16 ppg and 4 apg.
Opening Game: December 7th vs. Binghamton.
Coach: Bill Ocker, 7th season.
Last season’s record: 8-11.
Returning starters: Kyle Gallagher (6-5, jr.); Alex Wisniewski (6-2, jr.); Chris Heines (6-7, sr.); Steve Eggleston (6-0, sr.).
Outlook: Has alot of returning players from last season with alot of experience. Gallagher was leading scorer for the team last season as a sophomore and Heines led the team in rebounds. Jake Sinicki (6-5) is expected to contribute as well. Looking for their experience and teamwork to carry them into sectionals and hopefully further.
