Macy Weller had a big night at the right time.
The Sauk Centre senior middle hitter and reigning Times’ volleyball player of the year finished with 33 kills to lead the Mainstreeters to a 3-1 win over St. Croix Lutheran in the Class 2A state volleyball quarterfinals at the Xcel Energy Center.
The third-seeded Mainstreeters (32-0) won 25-4, 22-25, 25-18 and 25-18. No. 6 St. Croix Lutheran fell to 29-3 on the season.
Sauk Centre plays Caledonia (26-6) at 7 tonight in the semifinals. Caledonia defeated Maple Lake 3-0 in the quarterfinals to advance.
Kendra Zenzen had nine kills, three aces and 15 digs for Sauk Centre, Jena Klaphake had 12 digs and 48 set assists, Ashley Kollman had 22 digs and six kills and Katie Reitsma had 23 digs.
Afton Sobasky had 14 kills, 21 digs and 11 set assists for St. Croix Lutheran and Kira Grev had 11 kills and 18 digs.
No. 1-seeded Marshall (27-5) takes on fourth-seeded Belle Plaine (26-7) in the other semifinal game at 7 tonight.
Marshall defeated Mora 3-0 in a quarterfinal match while Belle Plaine downed Thief River Falls 3-0.
