DOVER – Luis Cruz and Luan Sales scored first-half goals as No. 3 Indian River blanked No. 14 McKean on Saturday afternoon at Dover High.

Cruz scored off an assist from Danny Garza at 13:45, and Sales added the insurance goal off an assist from Eduardo Ruiz at 28:25.

The Indians (15-1) outshot McKean 20-2 but were unable to score more goals. “We hit four or five right at the goalie, which was shame on us,” Indian River coach Steve Kilby said. “We didn’t show a lot of composure. We’ve got to maintain focus going forward. We’ve got to get better.”

Indian River goalie Sam Cannon made one save to record the shutout. Indian River will next play No. 6 Appoquinimink in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. McKean finished the season at 10-5-1.

Archmere goalie Patrick Fallon needed to make just one save to post the shutout as the Auks outshot the Vikings 12-3. Cape Henlopen finished the season at 11-4-1.
