Lake (6-1) at Union (6-2), Tonight

Round II of the Breland Bowl is also a key game in Region 5-2A when Jeff Breland and the Hornets travel to face brother Brad Breland and the Yellow Jackets. Brad won first meeting last year 21-7.

C-L says: Lake 21-17

Brandon (6-1) at Meridian (5-2)

Two standout sophomore quarterbacks (Brandon’s Gardner Minshew and Meridian’s Jmar Smith) look to help their teams bounce back from losses last week. Another pivotal game in the Region 3-6A race.

C-L Says: Meridian 28-27

Natchez (6-1) at Petal (6-1)

When season began, few people probably listed this game as being so huge, but it is. Winner of this one will be still perfect in Region 3-6A play and sitting pretty in the playoff picture.

C-L says: Petal 24-22

Callaway (5-2) at Ridgeland (4-3)

Chargers, led by standout junior offensive lineman Rod Taylor, are undefeated in Region 2-5A and could help their chances of hosting a first-round playoff game with a win. Titans, whose lone region loss was to Starkville, looking to do the same with a win.

C-L says: Callaway 21-20

Wayne County (5-2) at West Jones (6-0)

War Eagles and Mustangs renew their rivalry, and once again it looks like it could decide the Region 3-5A champion. WC has eclipsed the 40-point mark four straight games, but Mustangs’ defense is stout.

C-L says: West Jones 24-17

Wilkinson County (6-1) at Hazlehurst (8-0)

Wildcats, led by junior LSU commit Devin Voorhies, take their turn at the speedy Indians, who have looked almost invincible this season. Indians’ balanced attack averaging 216 yards on the ground and 163 through the air.

C-L says: Hazlehurst 35-20

Ackerman (6-2) at Eupora (7-1)

Winner in Battle of Highway 9 gets a leg up in Region 2-2A. Two of state’s top receivers on display with Ackerman’s Quinton Lane and Eupora’s Derrick Jones.

C-L says: Ackerman 28-27

Taylorsville (7-0) at Bassfield (8-0)

Top two ranked teams in Class 2A go head-to-head in a game that very well could be a preview of the South State championship. Tartars won 18-0 last season, but keeping these Jackets off the board this time is highly unlikely.

C-L says: Bassfield 27-10

Parklane Academy (7-1) at Presbyterian Christian (6-2)

Pioneers take on Bobcats (ranked No. 3 in AAA) in a game that will more than likely decide which team makes playoffs and which doesn’t. Parklane’s lone loss this season was a 13-12 setback against Centreville.

C-L says: Presbyterian Christian 31-28

Jackson Academy (7-1) at Washington School (6-1)

Raiders had their 27-game winning streak snapped last week, now make the trip to Greenville trying to rebound from that loss to Prep. Lone loss for Generals, ranked No. 5 in AAA, was at MRA.

C-L says: JA 27-17
