Ocean’s Tyler Thompson had 22 carries for 210 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns to lead the Spartans to a 31-8 win over JFK Iselin on Friday night.
Thompson set the tone early for the Spartans with eight straight carries for 45 yards resulting in their first touchdown of the game.
Thompson’s first play from scrimmage in the second half went for a 67-yard touchdown run to put the Spartans up 21-0.
Ocean’s quarterback Andrew Mehr also had 7 carries for 110 yards, with a 70-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter.
RED BANK CATHOLIC 49, RARITAN 14: Quarterback Pat Toomey opened the game with a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter as the Caseys defeated the Rockets in a Class A Central game. Larry Redaelli also scored on a 7 yard run in the first quarter.
Matt Golden brought in a 67-yard pass from Toomey in the second quarter, and James Taylor returned a 76-yard punt for a touchdown. The Caseys took a 42-0 lead into the half, and never looked back for the 49-14 win.
HOLMDEL 39, MONMOUTH 7: Quarterback Robbie Cantelli rushed for two touchdowns and also threw for two more leading the Hornets (3-1, 1-1) over the Falcons (0-3, 0-1) in a Class A Central game. Mark Scherzer and Jeff Harris both had a receiving touchdown for the Hornets.
The Hornets also had three interceptions in the game from Cantelli, Scherezer, and Justin Russo.
Monmouth’s Jeff Farrah threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to Jose Suarez in the 3rd quarter.
SOUTHERN 19, BRICK 7: Southern’s Mike Gesicki caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Dan Higgins in the first quarter as the Rams (3-1) defeated the Dragons (0-4) in a Class A South game. Higgins also threw a touchdown pass to Anthony Speziale in the fourth quarter for 22 yards to extend the Ram’s lead. Abe Gonzalez rushed for 100 yards for his third straight game on 24 carries for the Ram’s.
Brick’s Doug Cuccinello scored the Dragons only touchdown in the fourth quarter on a two-yard run. Cuccinello finished the game with 103 yards on 23 carries.
CENTRAL 47, PINELANDS 7: Central’s Javon Hardy rushed for three touchdowns and intercepted two passes, while Vinnie Davis rushed for two touchdowns as the Golden Eagles (2-2, 1-2) defeated the Wildcats (0-4, 0-3) in a Class B South game.
Manny Bowen returned a kickoff for another score, Marquis Drumright added a quarterback keeper from the 1-yard line and Tom Clark also had an interception.
BRICK MEM. 52, TR East 28: Senior running back Cody Pinho, Junior running back Mike Basile and senior quarterback Ryan Cieplinski each had two touchdowns as the Mustangs (4-0, 3-0) defeated the Raiders (0-4, 0-3) in a Class A South game.
Toms River East junior running back Matt Gudzak had 12 carries for 28 yards and a touchdown and senior running back Patrick Gallagher had four carries for 70 yards and a touchdown. Junior quarterback Jerry Caporale had 20 carries for 54 yards.
