Cameron Greene had three goals and one assist as the No. 4-seeded Two Rivers boys soccer team defeated visiting No. 13 seed Mayville 5-0 in Tuesday’s WIAA State Boys Soccer Tournament Division 2 regional opener.
Greene put the Raiders on the scoreboard first in the 13th minute on an assist from Ashton Novy.
Twelve minutes later Tyler Shallow scored on an assist from Greene, who scored his second goal on a penalty kick in the 36th minute to make it 3-0 at halftime.
Shallow opened up the second half with his second goal of the game at the 47-minute mark on an assist from Brice Ruedinger.
“The guys stayed very focused and were ready to play the second half,” Two Rivers coach David Anschutz said.
Five minutes later Greene notched the Raiders’ final goal.
Erik Wiegand was in net for Two Rivers and made 11 saves, including one on a penalty kick in the 71st minute.
“Again, I couldn’t believe (the save),” Anschutz said, referring to Wiegand’s recent string of penalty-kick saves. “He is just having an amazing season
Two Rivers (14-6-1) will host Plymouth (13-8-2) on Thursday.
“Hopefully we are good to go on Thursday again,” Anschutz said.
