Trumansburg tops Southern Cayuga in volleyball

TRUMANSBURG Hayley Sherwood had six kills, 12 assists and eight digs to lead the Trumansburg volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Southern Cayuga in an Interscholastic Athletic Conference North Large Division match Friday.
Game scores were 25-19, 25-16, 23-25 and 25-23. The victory kept the defending Class C sectional champion Blue Raiders (12-4 overall, 12-1 IAC) one game ahead of Lansing — a straight-sets winner Friday over Groton — in the division standings. Lansing is 11-3 overall, 11-2 in the league.
Anna Shelley added a team-high seven kills for Coach Angela McLennan’s T-burg squad, while Brianna Cochran had six kills Chloe Mount added five kills and 11 aces.
Rayvon Kenyon led the Chiefs (13-4, 10-4) with eight kills and seven digs.
The Blue Raiders are home Monday to take on Moravia, on Senior Night.
Lansing 3, Groton 0: Hannah Armstrong and Shalyn Watson had seven kills apiece to lead the Bobcats past the Indians on Senior Night. Game scores were 25-13, 25-14 and 25-17. Kelsey Thomas added five kills and 11 aces.
