The TSSAA has extended the contracts with host cities for most of its championship events for four years.
At its’ Board of Control meeting Tuesday, the TSSAA accepted a proposed four year extension from the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce to host the BlueCross Bowl games. The current contract would expire next season, but the extension covers through the 2016 games.
The TSSAA also accepted a four year contract extension from the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce to host Spring Fling. The previous deal for the BlueCross Spring Fling would have expired next spring. The event stays in Murfreesboro now through 2017.
Rutherford County’s Chamber had also proposed a four year extension to continue hosting the BlueCross Basketball Championships. TSSAA voted to approve that and keep the games at MTSU’s Murphy Center through 2017.
Murfreesboro may also get the Girls’ State Soccer Tournament. The contract with Chattanooga expires this year and the TSSAA voted to open dialogue with Rutherford County’s Chamber of Commerce after the expiration.
