TSSAA tables reclassification for July 12

By

MURFREESBORO – The TSSAA Board of Control tabled discussion on reclassification today and scheduled a special-called meeting next month.

The board will meet at 9 a.m. on July 12 at a place to be determined.

The board voted 5-4 to table it with Hillwood principal Steve Chauncy, Tullahoma athletic director Jerry Mathis, Lewis County athletic director Bryan True and Knoxville Fulton athletic director Jody Wright voting against the measure to table it.
The TSSAA has proposed a five-class system and the current six-class system for the football playoffs. It has also proposed a three-class and four-class system for non-football sports.
However, it appears among the board that it is happy with a three-class system for non-football sports.
