CHILLICOTHE — The first Scioto Valley Conference golf match of the season went off without much of a surprise Tuesday at Dogwood Hills, with Unioto taking the top spot by more than 20 strokes.
The Shermans won the match with a 157, well ahead of second-place Westfall, which finished with a 178. Adena was third at 182, with Zane Trace three strokes behind.
Individually, Unioto’s Colton Forcum took the medalist honors with a 36. Only Unioto’s Trent Huston, with a 37, and Adena’s Peyton Cooper, with a 39, came close to Forcum. Southeastern’s Eli McKee, Westfall’s Norm Chenoweth and Zane Trace’s Nate Newman each finished with a 41.
Also for the first-place Shermans, Sam Calvin and Caleb Cushing each finished with a 42. For the Mustangs, Eli Spicer shot a 43, Andrew Pettenski a 44 and Spencer Davis finished at 50.
For the third-place Warriors, Shad Dailey shot a 42, and Hunter Miller finished at 45. Zane Trace’s Trevor Bennett shot a 45 and Levi Dailey had a 47.
Piketon’s Craigen Moore had a 44, followed by Devin Gragg’s 47 and Tyler Meredith’s 49. Steven Barlow rounded out the Redstreaks’ scoring with a 50.
Sixth-place Southeastern was led by McKee, followed by Layton Ackley’s 45. Paint Valley got a 42 from Tyler Thompson and a 46 by Bryce Haddox, and Huntington was led by Shania Irvin’s 43 and Erik Addy’s 48.
The next conference match will be played Tuesday at Valley Vista Golf Course.
