Alexandra Federowicz won her first singles match in straight sets as the Vestal girls tennis team advanced to the Souther Tier Athletic Conferece final with a 5-2 victory over Owego in Tioga.
Federowicz improved to 10-3 this season with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Kira Thalacker.
Ishika Kumbhakar remained undefeated for the season at second singles, 13-0, with a 6-0, 6-0, victory over Kate Fisher for Vestal, which will host Horseheads in the final on Tuesday.
5, Seton Catholic 0: SV blanked the visiting Saints as Ryan Taylor led the Sabers with two goals. Mike Rood added three assists and Ryan Caroway added a goal and two assists. Connor Ulma and Taylor Graham also scored for SV.
Colin Manchester had four saves in the shutout while helping the Sabers improve to 9-1.
Vestal 4, Horseheads 1: Mac Felton scored twice for the Golden Bears (11-1) while Nick Economou and Justin Yadlosky had the other goals. Alex VanFleet had the lone goal for the Blue Raiders.
Oneonta 3, Chenango Forks 0: Connor Brown scored on a penalty kick with 9:50 left in first half. Chenango Forks’ goalie Arthor Ingraham had 12 saves, including a diving recovery in the second half against Brown’s kick from right field into the left corner of Fork’s goal.
Oneonta’s Brown and Kragh Delello also scored.
Union Endicott 3, Binghamton 0: Alessio Deformichelle had two goals and one assist to lead the Tigers. All of U-E’s goals were scored in the second half with Matt Ward adding the other. Nate Ripic got the shutout with one save. The Tigers outshot the Patriots 20-5.
Johnson City 5, Owego 1:Hans Purtell netted four goals for the Wildcats (9-2). Adam Blackwell had the lone goal for Owego.
Newark Valley 3, Oneonta 2: Newark Valley had to go into double overtime in their match Friday to defeat Owego. Emily Costley scored all three Newark Valley goals. Hannah Luszczeck, Caroline Durand, and Meredith Friend had assists for NV (4-3 league).
Owego 3, Johnson City 0: Owego (10-0) remained undefeated, getting by Johnson City 25-12, 25-10, and 25-20. Loren Edwards had 25 assists while Shelby Klemmt added 7 digs for Owego.
Unatego 3, Walton 2: Michaela Reynolds dominated the court with 13 aces, 11 kills and 3 blocks to help Unatego earn its first win (1-10). Leanne McKee was another source of power with 15 aces and 8 assists.
Harpursville 449, Sidney 492, Bainbridge-Guildford 493, Greene 553, Hancock 598: Jon Arnold and Matt Johnson shot an 81 and an 83, respectively, to lead Harpursville to the MAC tournament championship. Tim Parsons from Bainbridge-Guilford was named league MVP. Harpursville swept the first team all-star list with Jon Arnold, Matt Johnson, Cody Hawkins, Tyler Graham and Caleb Stulir all named to the team. Second team all-stars included Sidney’s Trenton Stilman, Bainbridge-Guilford’s Rob Burnett, Greene’s Justin Ekstrom and Marcus Dickerson, and Hancock’s Seth Simmons.
