Megan Tinklepaugh scored early on as the Vestal girls soccer team, the top seed in the Class A tournament, beat Johnson City 4-0 on Wednesday to advance to the finals against Owego.
Tinklepaugh’s goal came nine minutes into the game off a cross from Kaitlin Regan. Rachel Terry, Julia Dorber, and Victoria Antaanakos each added goals as Vestal recorded their 14th shutout of the season.
Vestal and Owego will play either Nov. 2 or Nov. 3 for the championship.
Greene 5, Spencer-Van Etten 3: Paige Wilcox scored all five goals for Greene to advance to the Class C quarterfinals despite being outshot 26-5. Wilcox scored all of her goals on breakaways, with her tally 15 minutes into the second half being the game-winner.
Unatego 2, Trumansburg 0: Cassidy Newman scored from about 25 yards out with under 30 minutes to go in the game to give Unatego a 1-0 lead, then assisted on Casey Manzanero’s with under 15 minutes remaining in the game to lead Unatego in the Class C quarterfinals. Unatego will host Greene on Saturday.
Dryden 2, Chenango Forks 0: After a scoreless first half, Dryden scored seven minutes into the second half with a header by Taylor Bennett off a Leighann Bennett free kick. Later, Leighann Bennett played a pass from Taylor Bennett and scored from 20 yards out. Dryden (15-1) plays Seton Catholic Central (9-3-1) on Saturday.
Seton Catholic Central 2, Newark Valley 1 (OT): Mallory Fox scored twice for the Saints, the first coming in the second half and the other in overtime, to advance the Saints to Saturday’s semifinals against Dryden.
Lansing 6, Sidney 0: Shean McCartney scored twice and Julie Barrett added a goal and assist for Lansing.
Notre Dame 6, Unadilla Valley 0: Hannah Haskell had a hat trick while Jen Smithers scored a goal and added an assist for the Crusaders.
Harpursville 2, Afton 1 (OT): Abby Bird got behind the defense and scored the game-winner 1:01 into overtime, giving Harpursville a win in a Class C first-round game. With the victory, Harpursville advances to play at Greene at 5 p.m. today.
Afton got on the board first, with Karli Conpropst scoring off a cross pass from Sierra Palmatier 12 minutes into the game. Mercedes Streno tied it for Harpursville four minutes later.
Vestal 2, Rome Free Academy 2: Baylee Burghardt scored off a Diana Ruggiero corner late in the second half to give Vestal a draw with Rome Free Academy. Vestal will play host to Windsor in the Class B semifinals at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
