Chillicothe’s volleyball team opened its season Saturday with a loss to Lancaster in the opening round of a tri-match, but bounced back to take a victory over Dublin Scioto in the nightcap.
“(The first match) was a tough loss because it had a tournament feel to the whole match,” CHS coach Brett Wrightsel said of a 21-25, 25-22, 25-23 loss to Lancaster. “We had the lead in Game 3 at 22-21, but we had two errors and then we traded kills until they finished it with a kill to seal it.”
The second match was a lot better for the Cavaliers.
After Dublin Scioto won the opening set 25-17, CHS bounced back with a 25-19, 25-19 sweep in the final two sets to split the tri-match. Rylee Bouillion scored five points in the final set against Scioto, with three points off aces.
Katelyn Martin had 24 kills in the matches, Kali Kight added 22 and Maddie Glendenning 21. Hayley Robinson had 70 assists between the two matches, and Parisa Bennett had 20 digs.
