Area volleyball teams were well-represented as the District 12 teams recently were announced.

West Muskingum senior Dylana McKenzie was named player of the year and the Tornadoes’ Brent McLoughlin earned coach of the year honors in Division III.

Dylana and Dakota McKenzie were first-team selections, and senior teammates Abbi Brock and Alison Hazen made honorable mention.

Crooksville senior Madison Sprankle and junior Jaden Derwacter also grabbed honorable mention in Division III.

The Division I-II first team included Maysville senior Morgan Swauger, Sheridan junior Bailey Lotozo, John Glenn junior Taylour Fatheree, Philo junior MacKenzie Clayton and Tri-Valley seniors Abby Maurer and Claire Ardrey.

Tri-Valley junior Deidre Prince, Maysville senior Erin Curry, John Glenn junior Haley Gregory and Sheridan junior Alli George made second team.

Honorable mention included Tri-Valley’s Sydney Miller and Katie Prince, Philo’s Amy Evans and Corrie Burkhardt, Sheridan’s Taylor Gittings and Brittney Meadows, Zanesville’s Madison Bunting and Dominique Bonner, New Lexington’s Sydney Wycinski and Tatum Brown, John Glenn’s Brittany Fraunfelter and Teresa Kuhns, Morgan’s Amanda Helle and Morgan Kussmaul and Maysville’s Bailee Creeks and Kayla Russell.

Meadowbrook’s Erin Smith and Jill Beskid were player and coach of the year, respectively, in Division I-II.

The 30th annual District 12 All-Star volleyball match will be at 3 p.m. today at Meadowbrook High School. Area players on the rosters include Dakota and Dylana McKenzie, Swauger, Curry, Maurer and Ardrey. McLoughlin will be one of the coaches.
