The Laconia volleyball team went 3-2 at the Oshkosh North Invite on Saturday. The Spartans beat Green Bay NEW Lutheran, Green Bay East and Manitowoc Roncalli. They lost to DeForest and Berlin. All five matches were two-set sweeps.
Morgan Gunnink and Alex Wegner both had 22 kills, Haley Smith had 73 assists and Cassie Isaac led the defense with 30 digs.
Laconia coach Troy Pluim said his team stayed consistent.
“For the most part we played pretty steady throughout the day,” Pluim said. “I thought we passed a lot better today than we had in the past couple of weeks.”
WLA went winless, losing to the hosts, Chilton, Deerfield, Mukwonago and Sheboygan Christian.
Sammi Kraus had 39 assists to start the WLA attack with Shelby Zuelke leading the team with 19 kills and Abby Hilbert adding 17. Zuelke also had five blocks and Cassie Krueger finished with 14 digs.
The host Crusaders finished 2-2 at the 31st annual tournament. CWC beat Bowler and Springs, and lost to Waterloo and Living Word Lutheran.
Katrina Regnerus led the attack with 25 kills, while Keesha Herpel had a team-high 15 digs. Ellie Miller had 36 assists and Hannah Bresser had 26.
“I thought we played very well on the day,” said CWC coach Dan Ten Napel. “We have been getting better each time we play the last couple weeks.
Katrina Regnerus has started to be a force in the middle, which has brought great balance to our team.”
