The New Holstein volleyball team won all four matches it played to win the championship of the tournament it hosted.
The Huskies bat Kohler, Green Bay West, Hilbert and Kewaskum. Hilbert was the only team to take New Holstein to three sets.
Tara Zipperer led the attack with 35 kills and she had 27 digs — four behind the team high from Allieson Mirsberger. Haileen Olson had 68 assists and 27 digs, and Tristen Guelig served 10 aces and had 15 kills.
West Bend Sprawl
Fondy went 1-6 at the elite West Bend Sprawl on Saturday.
The Cardinals’ lone win came in a three-setter against Middleton. Fondy was swept by Eau Claire North, Nicolet, Wisconsin Lutheran, Muskego and East Troy, and it lost in three to Kenosha Tremper.
Jenna Rosenthal had 42 kills and 8.5 blocks to lead the Cardinals at the net. Brianna Wagner also had 35 kills. Allison Duley had 47 assists and Jenny Smit had 30, while Kyra Gravelle’s 33 digs were the most on the team.
West De Pere Invite
North Fondy beat Marinette and Wautoma and split two sets against Freedom. The Orioles lost to Clintonville, West De Pere and Oconto.
Shelby Demboski and Amanda Schneider both had 29 kills, and Hannah Nelson assisted on 78 points. Defensively, Brenna Kelly had 33 digs and Lucia Canalda Suarez had 29.
“I thought the girls did pretty well with the adjustments (because of injuries) and came out 5-7 (in sets) on the day, with a few of the losses being tight matches that we were in,” North Fondy coach Ashley Kreiter said.
