North Fondy went 4-3 at the Wisconsin Dells Invite on Friday and Saturday. The Orioles beat Oshkosh North and Horicon in Friday’s pool play and Dodgeland and Hustisford in Saturday’s action.
“I was very impressed with our match against Oshkosh North,” Orioles coach Ashley Kreiter said. “The girls stepped up against some big hitters and pulled out the win in game three.”
Nicole Seidl was strong at the net with 55 kills and 16 blocks to lead North Fondy in both categories.
Hanna Nelson had 96 assists, and defensively Breanna Kelly had 40 digs and Brittany Parker had 36.
New Holstein took second place in Omro, sweeping Denmark, Freedom and Wild Rose to reach the championship match. In the final against Weyauwega-Fremont, the Huskies lost the first set 26-24, bounced back in set two, 25-21, only to drop the final set 15-9.
Tara Zipperer led the Huskies with 33 kills while Tori Zipperer had 16. Hailee Olson led the team with 55 assists, Allieson Mirsberger paced the defense with 49 digs, and Tristen Guelig served up nine aces.
Wisconsin Rapids Invite
Laconia swept host Wisconsin Rapids, Colby and Rib Lake, but dropped matches to Appleton East, Abbotsford, Fox Valley Lutheran and Antigo.
Morgan Gunnink had 33 kills and Alex Wegner had 32, while Haley Smith started the offense with 87 assists. Defensively, Cassie Isaac was buys leading the Spartans with 78 digs.
Laconia coach Troy Pluim said his team’s play was too inconsistent for his liking, but they’ll be back on the court for a nonconference match against Ripon on Tuesday.
