Waupaca 38,
Rice Lake 8

At Waupaca, the Comets scored three first-quarter touchdowns and cruised to the win over the Warriors.

After Sam Menzies’ two-yard run put the Comets up 6-0, Rice Lake fumbled the ensuing kickoff, with the Comets recovering. Menzies then threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to Nate Nelson to put the Comets up 12-0.

The Comets’ next scoring opportunity came on Rice Lake’s first play from scrimmage. The Warriors turned the ball over and Beau Ash scored for Waupaca on a three-yard run a few plays later.

Ash finished with a team-leading 88 yards rushing. Menzies rushed for 81 yards and threw for 172 yards.

Nate Jenson caught four passes for 77 yards, while Alex Hoffman caught four for 64.

Plymouth 7,
Seymour 6

At Plymouth, after connecting with Colton Schenk on a pass play that went 80 yards for a touchdown, Seymour quarterback Dakota Oskey kept the ball on a two-point conversion that would have given the Thunder the lead late in the fourth quarter.

Oskey rolled to his left on a naked bootleg but he was brought down around the two-yard line.

After recovering an onside-kick attempt, the Panthers were able to run out the clock and hang on for the one-point win.

Before scoring in the fourth quarter, Plymouth moved the ball inside Seymour’s 10-yard-line three times, yet came away with no points.
