The Evergreens’ thrower had a strong finish to her season with two trips to the podium at the WIAA Division 1 state meet. Day finished third in the shot put on the first day of competition, and then placed sixth in the discus on the second day.

Cody Ewert

Track and field

Ewert made his first trip to the WIAA Division 3 state meet a memorable one. The Raiders’ standout won the 110 hurdles, took second in the 300 hurdles and placed third in the pole vault. His efforts helped Marathon take second in the race for the team title.

Kyle Kolberg

Boys golf

Kolberg closed out his prep career with a stellar effort in the WIAA Division 2 state tournament at University Ridge in Madison. Kolberg tied for 10th in the tournament, carding a two-day total of 158 — 10 shots behind the medalist.

Josh Nielsen

Baseball

The junior hurler took the tough-luck loss for the Evergreens in a 2-1 defeat to Bay Port in the Division 1 sectional finals. Nielsen allowed just two hits in a complete-game effort, striking out 13. He also had two hits between the sectional semifinals and finals.

Kyle Schueller

Track and field

The Wildcats’ standout helped lead his team to its first Division 3 state championship by taking four trips to the podium. Schueller won the long jump and triple jump, took third in 100 meters and was fourth in the 200.

Tessa Thurs

Track and field

On a team that boasted plenty of stars, Thurs shined brightest with four gold medals to help the Wildcats to their third straight Division 3 title. Thurs won the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, triple jump and was a member of the victorious 1,600-meter relay.
