On Wednesday, the Fort Myers and Ida Baker boys along with the Island Coast and South Fort Myers girls bowled at the Boardwalk Entertainment Center in Orlando for the right to compete in the FHSAA State Bowling Championships.
Ida Baker qualified as a No. 4 seed in the boys championship tournament and opened play against 13th-seeded Colonial, defeating them three games to two.
Baker advanced to the second round to play 12th seeded Calvary Christian School, but lost three games to one despite a high game for the match of 223 in the third game.
The Island Coast girls team just made it into the tournament as the 16th seed, and was knocked out by No. 1 seed Martin County three games to none.
The Fort Myers and South Fort Myers bowling teams were not able to qualify, placing 19th and 18th overal.
Among the individuals, Island Coast’s Jessica Davies was the only Lee County qualifier for the girls, placing 10th and bowling 824 through four games.
Tim Sipper (11th) of Island Coast and Ida Baker bowler Tyler Altmann (13th) also qualified by bowling 882 and 877, respectively.
