Tonight’s Friday Night Fever “Big Game” is the Southwestern Conference showdown at Avon Lake Memorial Stadium between the visiting Midpark Meteors and the host Avon Lake Shoremen.
Both Midpark and Avon Lake enter the league tilt looking for their second conference win in as many weeks.
The Meteors (4-0, 1-0 WSC) opened league play last week by defeating Olmsted Falls 43-22 at home while the Shoremen (3-1, 1-0 WSC) bounced backed from a disappointing Week 4 home loss to Massillon Jackson by defeating North Olmsted on the road.
Midpark has outscored its first four opponents by a combined score of 170-85 while Avon Lake has outscored its opponents thus far by a margin of 156-116.
The ramifications of the game’s outcome extend beyond the conference standings, as the result will have a direct impact on next week’s Ohio Athletic Association computer ratings.
In this week’s ratings, Midpark is ranked ninth in Division I, Region 1, while Avon Lake is slotted third in Division I, Region 2. The top eight seeds in each region at the conclusion of Week 10 qualify for the playoffs.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
