Oostburg’s soccer team punched a ticket to State Saturday.
And in emphatic fashion, too.
The Flying Dutchmen posted a 4-0 shutout over St. Mary’s Springs in a Division 3 WIAA sectional final to secure a State tournament berth.
Maranda Huibregtse scored an unassisted goal in the first half to put the Dutch up 1-0 at halftime.
Amanda Launer re-charged Oostburg’s offense in the second half, and Emily Hengst and Missy Schleicher each added another later in the period.
Huibregtse finished the day with two assists, and Jaclyn Theune had one.
“It’s just all clicking when it needs to,” said Oostburg coach Ryan Ohlfs, whose team might seem an unlikely Cinderella.
The Dutchmen finished fourth in their eight-team Central Lakeshore Conference after posting just a .500 conference record.
But Oostburg has been on fire of late. The Dutch have won 12 straight games — their last loss came May 10 in a 3-2 decision to Ozaukee — and posted a 3-1 upset over CLC champ Howards Grove Thursday to move on to Saturday’s final.
Oostburg (18-8) plays The Prairie School (16-3-1) in a State semifinal Friday at Milwaukee’s Uihlein Soccer Park.
