HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – For the second straight game, Clarksville High allowed an early lead go to waste in a 38-27 loss to Christian County late Saturday night in the second game of the Toyota of Hopksinville Jerry Claiborne Bowl.

Playing at the Stadium of Champions, Clarksville High (0-2) jumped out to a 21-7 lead after the first quarter but found itself trailing 28-27 at halftime. The Colonels (2-0) accounted for the only scoring in the second half.

In its season opener, Clarksville High jumped out to a 14-0 lead on Fort Campbell, only to lose in double overtime.

Clarksville High will travel to Northwest this Friday for the city’s longest-running football rivalry and the first District 10-AAA game for both teams.

Rossview goes 5-2 in Bulldog Bash

FRANKLIN, Tenn – Rossview won the championship of the silver bracket on Saturday at the Bulldog Bash, hosted by Smyrna High School at the A-Game Sportsplex. Rossview (8-2) opened tournament on play on Friday beating Community 25-13, 25-16 and Cookeville 25-22, 25-13.

On Saturday, Rossview lost its opening match 25-17, 25-20 to Hume-Fogg, bounced back to beat Smyrna 25-11, 25-20 before losing to Friendship Christian 25-19, 25-10.

The Lady Hawks rebounded to win their final two matches beating Portland 25-16, 25-16 and Franklin 25-15, 25-14.

Regan Comperry, Janie White, Sheridan Black and Mica Koontz set the pace for the Lady Hawks during their seven matches.

Rossview plays at Henry County on Monday, then will play host to West Creek on Tuesday. The Lady Hawks play Northwest Wednesday.

Montgomery Central 2, Northwest 1

Cierra Adams scored two unassisted goals leading Montgomery Central to a 2-1 win over Northwest in a season-opening soccer match for both teams late last week. Charvel Groves made 20 stops at keeper for the Lady Indians.
