From Michael Jordan’s obsession with rocking North Carolina shorts under his Chicago Bulls gear during games to Serena Williams’ need to bounce the tennis ball five times prior to her first serve, athletes have long been believers that superstitions give them the added edge.

Every week we’ll take a look at some of the wackiest superstitions high school athletes and coaches from around the country implement.
This week we caught up with Skyline (Dallas) quarterback Devante Kincade, a Mississippi commit.

The Superstition: Wing binge

The Breakdown: “I used to eat cheese fries but I had to stop that. I started eating wings before every game and it just stayed with me. I have to eat them early in the day. I usually go to Wing Stop or Buffalo Wild Wings and get it in. It’s just something that I have to do.”

The Why: “I know it sounds crazy but it just helps me relax before the game and it’s my routine. I don’t even feel right if I haven’t had my wings. That would feel crazy to me. Just going into the game knowing that I ate my wings helps me play better, believe it or not.”
