The Winnebago Lutheran volleyball team defeated North Fond du Lac in five games Thursday in Flyway action.
The Vikings won 25-20, 29-27, 17-25, 21-25 and 15-8.
Shelby Zuelke led WLA in kills with 16, and she also led in blocks with six. Cassie Krueger had 15 digs, and Sarah Kell added 10.
Sammi Kraus had 14 assists, and Holly Pamperin and Abby Hilbert tied for the team lead in aces with two each.
Nicole Seidl had 18 kills and Shebly Demboski had 17 for the Orioles. Hannah Nelson had 47 digs and Breanna Kelly led the team with 18 digs.
“North Fond du Lac mixed up the serving, but we played as a team and clinched the second game,” We put ourselves in a hole the third and fourth.”I’m proud of how our whole team came out and attacked in the fifth,” said WLA coach Rachel Meyer.
Springs 3, Omro 0
Springs swept Omro 25-19, 25-16, 25-15, to improve to 4-1 in Flyway play.
Omro struggled to stop Eleanore Mueller, who had 14 kills. Julia Moul had 22 assists, Molly Krueger had four aces and Carly Meyer needed to make just five digs to lead the team’s defense.
Osh. West 3, Fondy 0
The Wildcats won in Oshkosh, 25-11, 26-24, 25-14.
Sadie Warner led the Cardinals with eight kills, and Makenna Mitchell added four. Jenna Rosenthal led the net play with three blocks. Kyra Gravelle had 19 digs, and Callen Farina and Warner had 10 apiece.
Mitchell served one ace and Jenny Smit had nine assists.
“It was a tough loss, another tough loss,” said Fondy coach Kevin Santry.
Laconia 3, Lomira 0
The Spartans won at home 25-14, 25-15, 25-22 behind a big night from Alex Wegner. She had 13 kills and eight blocks, and played with great energy according to coach Troy Pluim. Also for Laconia, Haley Smith had 26 assists.
Waupun swept, 25-13, 25-15 and 25-22.
Emilee Wiersma paced Waupun with 12 kills and four blocks. Kyra Verheyen had 26 assists and tied for the team lead in blocks. Blake Buchholz led the defense with six digs, and Vanessa Jaeger had six aces.
New Holstein 3, Kewaskum 0
The Huskies (19-7) won on the road, 25-8, 25-22 and 27-25.
Tara Zipperer lead the team with nine kills, while Hailee Olson had eight. Hailee Olson put up 18 assissts. Allieson Mirsberger had 15 digs and Tristen Guelig paced the club with five aces. Morgan Becker blocked three shots.
CWC 3, Hustisford 0
The Crusaders won with a sweep, 25-22, 25-12 and 25-23.
Katrina Regnerus and Keesha Herpel led CWC with six kills apiece, and Regnerus led the blockers with three.
Hannah Bresser served three aces, and Hannah Bresser led with 10 assists.
