City High

Coach: Cory Connell (second season).

Last year: 7-24.

Returning lettermen: (11) Ryan Maas, Colton Chalupa, Damond Coghill-Bahrends, Derek Delaney, Nic Jarvis, Daniel Kelly, Ali Omar, Will Ortiz, Dallas Slater, Jose Verdinez, Ethan Vermace.

Outlook: City High returns two starters and 11 letterwinners this season ,led by senior 220-pounder Ryan Maas. Mass went 40-6 last season and placed third at the state meet. Coach Cory Connell enters his second season leading the Little Hawks and expects help from newcomer Dillon Africa.

West High

Coach: Mark Reiland (14th season).

Last year: 21-8 (13-1 MVC).

Returning lettermen: (15) Chris Walters, Micah Kelsay, Tyler Hebl, Jasmine Bailey, Jakeb Bakken, Donovan Doyle, Jackson Voigt, John Milani, Mitch Yoerger, Tristen Bowers, Connor Gast, Sage Wisner, Aydan Wynos, Mason Koch, Nate Kelsay.

Outlook: Fifteen letter winners, highlighted by three returning state qualifiers return for West as the Trojans attempt to improve on last year’s eighth place finish at the state meet.


Coach: Adam Martensen (first season).

Last year: 8-7.

Returning lettermen: (10) TJ Schott, Adam Ries, Abe Schropp, Eric McFerren, Eric Bracken, Casey Beaver, Justin Hunter, Aaron Demory, Zach Galindo, Payton Maske.

Outlook: Ten letterwiners return for Regina, highlighted by senior 152-pounder Casey Beaver who was a state qualifier last season while going 28-15. 2013 District qualifier TJ Schott (19-20) also returns along with senior Adam Ries (12-15), junior Eric Bracken (13-20), sophomore Justin Hunter (16-26), sophomore Aaron Demory (12-19) and junior Payton Maske (12-24). First-year coach Adam Martensen expects contributions from freshman Mason Simpson and Jarrod Brinkman.


Coach: Brooks McLaren (fourth season).

Last year: 14-12.

Returning lettermen: Bailey Redlinger, Louis Gnida, Trevor Yahr, Cole Fritz, Nate Kennedy, Danny Whitmore, Max Turkal, Lance Evans, Logan Linderbaum, Josh Bender, Nick Bailey, Trevor Nelson.

Outlook: Expectations are high for Solon this season as nine starters, including two state qualifiers and a state place winner, return this season. The returning state place winner is senior Lance Evans who placed fifth at 195 last year. Evans is ranked first at 220 pounds in Class 2A and will be seeking his third state medal this season. Junior Louis Gnida (42-8) is ranked 10th at 120 pounds while senior Danny Whitmore (31-14) is ranked seventh at 182 and junior Logan Linderbaum (32-15) is fourth at 285. Trevor Nelson will attempt to become Solon’s first four-time qualifier.

West Branch

Coach: Will Kober and Jason Feuerbach (second season as co-head coaches).

Last year: 14-7.

Returning lettermen: Casey Pence, Tyler Donovan, Justin Roth, Ryan Grosvenor, Cole Lacina, Joe Tatman, Adam O’Neil, Drew Finnegan, Josh Snyder, Tony Rocha.

Outlook: Five starters and 10 letterwinners return for the Bears this season, led by the senior trio of Casey Pence, Tyler Donovan and Justin Roth. Pence finished 45-7 last season and is ranked fourth at 145 pounds to begin the season. Donovan was 42-3 a year ago and is ranked 10th at 160 pounds while Roth finished 24-19 last season.

Lone Tree

Coach: John Osterhout.

Last year: 5-12.

Returning lettermen: (6) Ty Robertson, Keaton Kane, Cody Icenogle, Alex Yedlik, Drake Dauber, Jake Viner.

Outlook: First-year head coach John Osterhout will attempt to take Lone Tree wrestling to new heights this season as the Lions return two state qualifiers and six letterwinners from a year ago. Junior Alex Yedlik (26-10) and senior Ty Robertson (35-10) both return after qualifying for the state tournament last year. Last season was the first time that Lone Tree had multiple state qualifiers in the same year and both Yedlik and Robertson will be attempting to become the first multiyear qualifiers in school history. Seniors Keaton Kane (30-14) and Cody Icenogle (26-18) also return.
