The 4A Player of the Year batted .544 with three home runs and 17 RBIs for the Broncos this spring. On the mound, he was 5-2 with a 1.39 ERA, striking out 78 batters in 40.1 innings.
Brawny (6-4/270) first baseman earned All-State honors after leading the Falcons to the Class 6A state championship game. Hit .423 with two homers and 23 RBIs.
Earned All-State and Wichita Eagle All-Metro first team honors after hitting .463 with four homers and 23 RBIs. The 5-foot-10 shortstop stole 19 bases without being caught and scored 33 runs for the Mavericks.
Baillergeon hit .456 with 25 RBIs for the Pioneers to nab Class 5A Player of the Year honors.
Batted .415, belted three homers, scored 24 runs and drove in 35 in just 19 games for the Golden Eagles, who advanced to the 5A state championship.
Blue Valley West
The best player of the state’s top team, Engelken took home 6A Pitcher of the Year honors after the Jaguars (27-3) won state. The 6-foot-4 right-hander has committed to Nebraska.
The Class 5A Co-Pitcher of the Year, Floyd led the Thunderbirds to the state semifinals. The burly 6-foot-3 southpaw was drafted by the New York Yankees.
Gates hit .612 for the 17-6 Grizzlies, earning Class 6A Player of the Year honors from the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches.
A 6-foot-1 righty, Colombo was named Gatorade State Player of the Year and led the Vikings to the Class 5A state title.
