Player Of The Year — Nichole Tolli
Vital stats: The all-state player led the Admirals in goals (21) and assists (10) and was selected to the Futures Elite Academy. The senior collected four of those goals and added an assist in a 6-0 regular-season triumph over Roy C. Ketcham, and had a goal and four assists in a 6-0 regular-season win over Carmel. Tolli, the Poughkeepsie Journal’s Player of the Year in 2012, is set to play next season at Sacred Heart.
Quotable: “Nichole has been a driving force for the past four years. Her determination and work ethic have been a major factor in the success Arlington has had and helped her become one of the top players in Section 1,” Arlington coach Stephanie Tito said.
Position: Center back
Vital stats: The All-Section 1 player, a Poughkeepsie Journal first-team pick in 2012, anchored a defense that finished with 10 shutouts. The senior contributed two goals for a team that reached the Section 1 semifinals.
Quotable: “Jordan’s field sense and ability to read the attack has been invaluable to our defense this year. With 10 shutouts on record this season, Jordan has been the cornerstone of the defensive unit. She is consistent and reliable on and off the field,” Arlington coach Stephanie Tito said.
Position: Center midfield
Vital stats: The captain finished with 13 goals and a team-high 14 assists in leading the Tigers to the Section 1 Class C title. The All-Section 1 player and her teammates fell one overtime goal short of reaching the state Final Four, losing to eventual state champ Pierson/Bridgehampton.
Quotable: “She was our leader both on and off the field,” Pawling coach June Lagan said. “She’s very explosive, quick to the ball and very versatile. She can see the field of play very well and generated our offense and defense. This year, she was guarded later in the season by two or three players to keep her away from the ball.”
School: Pine Plains
Vital stats: The Mid-Hudson Athletic League First-Team All-Star had eight goals and one assist in helping the Bombers win the MHAL Division 2 and Section 9 Class C crowns. Croghan was a team co-captain.
Quotable: “She works incredibly hard. She’s quiet but she’s always giving 110 percent. She was the glue to our team and kept everything working well this year,” Pine Plains coach Debbie Beam said.
Position: Right wing
Vital stats: Grillo anchored the front line for the Section 1 Class C champions. The All-Section 1 player led Pawling attackers with 13 goals, tied for the team-high with Cody, a midfielder. She also had eight assists.
Quotable: “She has great hand-eye coordination. She has an eye for the cage and great one-on-one skills. She’s always changing her technique to beat her opponent and has a great work ethic,” Lagan said.
School: Roy C. Ketcham
Position: Center forward
Vital stats: The captain collected 14 goals and nine assists. Ketcham coach Erin Mulligan said Herzog “created plays” and “played a key role in all offensive corners.” Herzog, a fifth-year varsity player, was a 2012 Poughkeepsie Journal First-Team All-Star.
Quotable: “She’s a versatile player and will be missed,” Mulligan said. “She brings the value I like in our program to the team — it’s not about yourself, it’s about the whole team working toward a common goal. She’s made it so easy to teach this to younger players because she set such a good example.”
Vital stats: The All-Section 1 player finished with two goals for the Section 1 Class A semifinalists. Tito said Kaminsky used her work ethic and strong stick skill to control the midfield for the Admirals.
Quotable: “Emily is a player that every coach wants on their team — she shows up day after day and does what is needed with a smile on her face. Statistics cannot measure the impact and importance of Emily. Her quiet determination and athletic ability are critical components to our game,” Tito said.
Vital stats: A four-year varsity player, Santo led the Hawks with eight goals and added three assists. Rhinebeck coach Mary Fleischhauer said her captain communicated well with her teammates and used her stick skills and speed to create opportunities.
Quotable: “She an incredible player. I think she’s a leader but also a teacher to her teammates,” Fleischhauer said.
School: Pine Plains
Vital stats: The co-captain collected 25 goals and seven assists in leading Pine Plains to the MHAL Division 2 and Section 9 Class C titles. Smith was a 2012 Poughkeepsie Journal First-Team All-Star.
Quotable: “She’s a very versatile player. She can play offense and defense. I believe she likes playing offense better than defense. I kept her up front to do what she does well — put the ball in the net,” Beam said.
School: Red Hook
Vital stats: The MHAL First-Team All-Star tallied three assists and plans to play at Skidmore next season. Red Hook coach Diane Zduniak said Stortini is an effective center midfielder because she handles the ball well, dodges defenders and switches fields often.
Quotable: “Talia is a true leader and was a perfect captain for our team this year. She has a tremendous work ethic and is a role model for all of our players. She is a very talented player and puts it all into every game and practice, and you can’t ask for more than that,” Zduniak said.
School: Red Hook
Vital stats: The MHAL First-Team All-Star stopped 143 shots in leading the Raiders to the Section 9 Class B final. Zduniak tabbed her goalie as a flexible, consistent leader with a great work ethic.
Quotable: “Alex is a dynamic goalie that leads the defense in the backfield. She has many talents and being consistent is one of her strengths,” Zduniak said.

Coach of the Year — June Lagan
Vital stats: Lagan guided the Tigers to an 11-7-1 record and the program’s first Section 1 title since 2005. The coach set up a tough early non-league schedule against bigger schools — Arlington, Lakeland, Mahopac, Carmel and Yorktown — to prepare for Class C competition. Lagan’s Tigers lost to two eventual state champions — Class B champ Lakeland during the regular season and Pierson/Bridgehampton in the Class C state regional final.
Quotable: “It was a nice group of girls who worked hard together,” Lagan said.
