The defending champions Lewis Palmer are headed back to Boulder.
Justin Smith scored 19 points for the Rangers who beat Colorado Springs area rival Cheyenne Mountain 66-49 Saturday afternoon in the Great 8 at the Denver Coliseum.
Fellow Springs area school Wasson also is headed to Boulder. The Thunderbirds are trying to hang 1 final banner in the rafters at Wasson before the school is closed in the Spring.
Wasson got 27 points from D.J. Hanes on their way to a 60-48 win over Thomas Jefferson.
Mesa Ridge couldn’t overcome an injury to their star Kylee Shook. The freshman couldn’t play against Pueblo South with an ankle injury and the Colts were able to pull away from Mesa Ridge and win 54-33.
Pueblo South will face Broomfield on Thursday in the Final 4. Broomfield advanced with a 51-41 win over Montrose.
The very first game of Saturday’s early session was Centaurus against Pueblo West. The Warriors were down just a point late in the 3rd quarter before Celeste Montgomery hit a 3 for West that sparked a 12-0 run. Pueblo West went on to win 40-29 to improve to 25-1 and advance to the Final 4.
