Alex Abbott Jay County
The Jay County junior moves with purpose toward the goal when the ball is at his feet. Dunn followed a nine-goal freshman campaign by scoring 20 goals as a sophomore. He is already on pace to smash that total as a junior. The Patriot netted hat tricks in the opening two games of this season.
Gabe Coleman Burris
First-year Burris coach Cameron McBride said his attack runs through Coleman. The Burris junior midfielder is versatile enough to play virtually any position, though, and he is arguably just as effective at stopping an opposing attack as building one for the Owls. Coleman dictates the pace of play.
Derek Fox Yorktown
The Yorktown senior kicks for the football team, and he is football size at 6-3, 222 pounds, but he manages just fine with that size on the pitch, too. The defensive center midfielder is equally dangerous as a distributor or a shooter. He is a goal threat once he crosses half field, and he is adept at putting the ball in the perfect place for a teammate to finish.
Devon McNabb Southside
Only one other freshman in the state surpassed the 14 goals scored by McNabb last season. The Rebel dished out eight assists, too. Southside coach Ivan Saval says the sophomore midfielder is dynamic with the ball and predicts he will be regarded as the best player in program history by the time he graduates.
Tri Nguyen Central
The Central junior midfielder is extremely fit. He moves from corner to corner without any hint of slowing down. Central coach Shea Hill says Nguyen’s touch on the ball compares favorably with any other player in the area. He is an effective leader, too. Teammates selected him and two seniors as their three captains.
