MANCHESTER, Tenn. – Clarksville Academy is hanging around as the first round of the Class A/AA State Golf tournament finished Tuesday afternoon at WillowBrook Golf Course.

AnnaMichelle Moore fired a 78 Tuesday while Bailey Foote shot a 94 for a 172 team total. The Lady Cougars sit in sixth place overall while Moore’s 78 has her in fourth place individually.

Sullivan South is in first place with a team score of 156, followed by Milan (161), Macon County (162) and Boyd Buchanan (166).

The individual leader is Sophia Schubert, of Christian Academy of Knoxville, after she carded a 73.

Moore will tee off at 8:30 a.m. for Wednesday’s final round while Foote is scheduled to go off at 8:40.


Clarksville High 6, Kenwood 0

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Amber Colvin scored a pair of goals and her teammates pitched in to drop Kenwood in a varsity soccer game Tuesday night.

Kelsey Greiff scored in the first minute while Colvin’s goals came in the ninth and 43rd minutes. Ella Baggett added a goal in the 11th minute while Justis Bailey had a goal in the 49th minute off a penalty kick. Gybson Roth finished off the scoring in the 76th minute while goalie Melia Correa had two saves for CHS (12-2-1, 5-0).

Montgomery Central 5, Dickson County 4

Cierra Adams has already destroyed her own school record for goals in a season, pouring in five more in Tuesday’s varsity soccer victory against Dickson County.

Adams scored the goals in the fourth, eighth, 24th, 46th and 64th minutes while Chloe Harp assisted on two of those goals and Zoie Cordell and Samantha Espinoza each had an asssist. Allison Schmittou finished with 12 saves in goal for the Lady Indians (11-1, 8-0 in D11-A/AA).

The five goals gave Adams 41 on the season. She previously set the single-season mark as a freshman when she scored 39 goals. Adams surpassed the 100 career goal mark two games into the season.

Record: MCHS (8-14, 3-9 in D11AA).
