The Southeastern and Adena boys and girls track and field programs put on a showing Saturday at the Division III district track meet at Oak Hill High School. The Panthers and Warriors combined for 15 district qualifiers at the event.
Southeatern’s girls had the highest team finish of the day, placing fourth with a team score of 60. The Panthers boys placed 10th with a score of 28. Adena’s boys had the highest boys team finish from the area, finishing eight with a score of 41. The Lady Warriors finished sixth with 52 points.
Rounding out the girls team finishes, Paint Valley finished fifth with a score of 53. Huntington finished eighth with 37 points. On the boys side, Huntington finished 12th with 20 points. Paint Valley finished 14th with 13 points. There were three district champions on the day, with Paint Valley collecting two of them. Laci Stanforth won the district title in the pole vault (8-feet, 8-inches) and Taylor Baker won a district title in the discus (132-01). Southeastern’s Rachel Ball also grabbed a district title in the 3,200 (12:56.16).
For the girls, other district qualifiers include Adena’s 4×200 relay team of Hannah Bakenhaster, Alexis Hart, Jessica Hutton and Briana Poehler with a second place third place finish (1:55.78) and Southeastern’s 4×200 relay team of Courtney Campbell, Brooke Mercer, McKenzie Arledge and Madison Arledge with a third place finish (1:56.56); Southeastern’s 4×100 team of Campbell, McKenzie Arledge, Emily Dresbach and Madison Arledge with a third place finish (55.34); Adena’s Taylor Clarkson in the 400 meter dash with a fourth place finish (1:05.57); Southeastern’s Dresbach with a third place finish (2:39.17). Other athletes who placed were: Paint Valley’s Baker with a fourth place finish (2:39.89) in the 800 meter dash; Adena’s Rachael Foster with a fourth place finish in the 300 hurdles (52.99); Southeastern’s Elizabeth Grim with a third place finish in the discus (97-03); Adena’s 4×400 relay team of Bakenhaster, Jessica Hutton, Taylor Clarkson and Jenna Hutton with a second place finish (4:28.56) and Southeastern’s 4×400 relay team of Madison Arledge, McKenzie Arledge, Dresbach and Brooke Mercer with a fourth place finish (4:39.82); Huntington’s Carolane Cox with a second place finish (14-7.25) and Paint Valley’s Faith Davis with a fourth place finish (14-7) in the long jump and Southeastern’s McKenzie Arledge with a second place finish (7-0) and Paint Valley’s Elana Rickey with a third place finish (6-6) in the pole vault.
On the boys side, Adena’s district qualifiers include the 4×200 relay team of Calob Thatcher, Cale Free, Michael Bryant and Tyrell Pettiford with a third place finish (1:37.18), Isaac Thomas with a fourth place finish in the 400 meter dash (54.01), and the 4×400 relay team of David Bakenhaster, Tyrell Pettiford, Isaac Thomas and free (3:30.29). Southeastern’s Noah Daniels also qualified with a second place finish in the shot put (45-6.75), and Paint Valley’s Tony Hatfield does so in the 100 meter dash (11.71),
The Division III regional preliminaries will begin Wednesday at Fairfield Union High School.
