THE WINNER: Racean ‘Roc’ Thomas


School: Oxford (Ala.)
Grade: Senior
Position: RB
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 200 pounds

Athletic achievement: He rushed for 2,211 yards and 32 touchdowns on 226 carries, averaging 9.8 yards per rush this past season and leading the Yellow Jackets (9-3) to the Class 6A state quarterfinals. A 2013 Under Armour All-American, Thomas was a 2012 Class 6A First Team All-State selection. He concluded his prep football career with 6,169 rushing yards and 82 touchdowns.

Academic excellence: Thomas has maintained a B average.

Exemplary character: A member of the Oxford High graphic arts club, he has designed multiple logos and bulletins used by the Oxford City School System.


“Roc Thomas is a once-in-a-lifetime player,” said Brooks Dampeer, head coach of Pell City (Ala.). “The thing that makes him so tough to tackle is that he fights defenders as they try to bring him down. I’ve never seen one player have as much impact on one team as he does.”

THE FUTURE: Thomas has verbally committed to Auburn.
