Before the season began Reedsville girls basketball coach Paul Ourada said it was time to see what the younger kids could do. Turns out they did quite all right.
The Panthers, coming off a 4-19 season and finishing tied for last in the Olympian Conference at 2-16, flipped that record to win the OC by going 16-2 in conference and 21-3 overall.
Ourada put his faith in players such as sophomore Shelby Otto, who won the OC Player of the Year by averaging a double-double with 13.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
Their season came and end at the hands of Oshkosh Lourdes, who beat Reedsville 54-48 in the WIAA Girls State Basketball Division 3 regional final, but not before Ourada proved sometimes the best player for the job might be the youngest.
