Blair was the first American Olympian to collect gold medals in the 500-meter event in three consecutive Olympic Games.

Why Her: The legendary speedskater was the first American woman to win five Olympic gold medals (she also won a bronze medal during the 1988 Games in the 1,000 meters.). At age 19, Blair competed in the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics, her first of four Games appearances (1984, 88, 92, 94). In 2004, Blair was inducted into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame.

Ultimate Moment: Four weeks after the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Blair set a world record and became the first woman to break 39 seconds for the 500-meter event.

Funky Fact: Blair’s father and four siblings were at a skating meet during her birth.
