The 2013 Ohio high school girls fastpitch
softball season concluded about a month ago with the crowning of four state
champions at Akron’s Firestone Stadium.

As a nod to the season that was,
USATodayhss.com/Cleveland would like to highlight the best players in Northeast
Ohio. We’re excited to unveil our American Family Insurance All-Northeast Ohio
Softball Team.

The 10 student-athletes listed below were
selected by USATodayhss.com/Cleveland staff members as the best players in
Northeast Ohio this season. Some of these names were on our preseason list, but others made the cut with stellar
performances this spring.

Jenna Lilley – North Canton Hoover junior
infielder – Ohio Gatorade Softball Player of the Year and first-team all-state selection

Kristen Confroy – Solon junior infielder –
second-team all-state selection and The Plain Dealer’s Softball Player of the
Year

Emma Sullivan – Columbia senior infielder –
second-team all-state selection helped the Raiders advance to the Division II state
championship game

Kristina LaRocca – Strasburg-Franklin junior
pitcher – the honorable mention all-state honoree compiled a 27-5 record and
was the winning pitcher in the Division IV title game

Caitlyn Minney – Elyria senior pitcher –
first-team all-state selection helped the Pioneers advance to the Division I
title game

Allison Golic – Mentor freshman pitcher –
The News-Herald Player of the Year posted an 18-0 record in the circle and maintained
a .372 batting average, the third-highest on the team.

Alexis Mack – Brecksville-Broadview Heights
senior – The University of South Carolina verbal commit earned first-team all-state recognition

Quartni Whithed – Akron Springfield senior
pitcher – first-team all-state selection

Annie Wennerberg – Avon Lake senior pitcher – first-team all-state selection

Cuyahoga Heights junior pitcher Meridith
Chopka – the first-team all-state selection compiled a 24-1 record while
maintaining a 0.43 ERA

Compiling a list of all-stars is a
subjective task that often sparks debate. That is why, throughout the course of
the past few days, we asked our social media followers to tell us the players they
believed deserved recognition.

The responses we received are below. Be
sure to join the conversation by connecting with USATodayhss.com/Cleveland
through Facebook
and/or Twitter. Your
social media comments will likely be added to the story.
