The 2013 Ohio high school girls fastpitchsoftball season concluded about a month ago with the crowning of four statechampions at Akron’s Firestone Stadium.

As a nod to the season that was, would like to highlight the best players in NortheastOhio. We’re excited to unveil our American Family Insurance All-Northeast OhioSoftball Team.

The 10 student-athletes listed below wereselected by staff members as the best players inNortheast Ohio this season. Some of these names were on our preseason list, but others made the cut with stellarperformances this spring.

Jenna Lilley – North Canton Hoover juniorinfielder – Ohio Gatorade Softball Player of the Year and first-team all-state selection

Kristen Confroy – Solon junior infielder -second-team all-state selection and The Plain Dealer’s Softball Player of theYear

Emma Sullivan – Columbia senior infielder -second-team all-state selection helped the Raiders advance to the Division II statechampionship game

Kristina LaRocca – Strasburg-Franklin juniorpitcher – the honorable mention all-state honoree compiled a 27-5 record andwas the winning pitcher in the Division IV title game

Caitlyn Minney – Elyria senior pitcher -first-team all-state selection helped the Pioneers advance to the Division Ititle game

Allison Golic – Mentor freshman pitcher -The News-Herald Player of the Year posted an 18-0 record in the circle and maintaineda .372 batting average, the third-highest on the team.

Alexis Mack – Brecksville-Broadview Heightssenior – The University of South Carolina verbal commit earned first-team all-state recognition

Quartni Whithed – Akron Springfield seniorpitcher – first-team all-state selection

Annie Wennerberg – Avon Lake senior pitcher – first-team all-state selection

Cuyahoga Heights junior pitcher MeridithChopka – the first-team all-state selection compiled a 24-1 record whilemaintaining a 0.43 ERA

Compiling a list of all-stars is asubjective task that often sparks debate. That is why, throughout the course ofthe past few days, we asked our social media followers to tell us the players theybelieved deserved recognition.
