Here are the American Family Insurance All-Northeast Ohio Top 5 photos of the week.
Number 5: We start with Senate Athletic League action and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District championships in wrestling. The championship photo goes to John Adams, as the Rebels won the title.
Number 4: We head to Streetsboro for the boys basketball contest between the host Comets and the visiting Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals on Feb. 5. In the photo, CVCA senior Bob Peters finishes a dunk to add to his 26 points on the night. The Royals finished off the Comets, 76-51.
Number 3: We return to Senate League action — this time on the hardwood. Glenville defeated East Tech 64-61 in the girls’ title tilt. Sophomore Latrice Legion paced the Tarblooders with 25 points.
Number 2: We head south to Uniontown Lake, where the host Blue Streaks battled visiting Massillon Jackson for the Federal League boys hoops championship. Lake senior Chase Vaudrin goes up for a layup as Jackson senior Kyle Johnson elevates right behind him for the block. Lake would end up winning the championship 93-92 in double overtime.
Number 1: This one comes from all of Northeast Ohio. We feature Kirtland senior Damon Washington as he signs his national letter of intent to play football at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, but this could be all the seniors who recently signed their respective national letters of intent. Check out our photos and blog on all the student-athletes in Northeast Ohio who will be competing at the next level.
