Monday night at Fairfax (Va.) High School was “Drew Bonner Night”. Bonner, Fairfax’s team manager got his first and likely only high school at-bat, The Washington Post reported.
Bonner, a senior, was unable to continue playing baseball after age 11 due to his Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Fairfax coach Rick Freeman arranged for the at-bat as a way to honor Bonner, who, in addition to serving as the team manager for three of Fairfax’s sports teams, was also a member of the homecoming court.
