KENMORE, N.Y.-New York State’s top ranked team, Aquinas beat St. Joe’s Saturday afternoon 31-21 at St. Joe’s.
St. Joe’s took the lead early in the second half on a one yard touchdown run by Nigel Davis. That gave the Marauders a 21-13 lead but Aquinas scored the final three touchdowns of the game to roll to the victory. Davis had 85 yards on 11 carries and he scored two touchdowns. He also scored on an 80 yard run.
Sophomore quarterback Mike McCarthy had a tough day against the Irish. He left in the third quarter with an injury and did not return. He was 8 of 22 for 97 yards with an interception.
Senior Tyler Hill scored on a 94 yard interception return on the first play of the second quarter. He replaced McCarthy at quarterback and was 5 of 10 for 55 yards.
Aquinas sophomore quarterback Jake Zembiec threw for 314 yards and three touchdowns.
St. Joe’s is at St. Francis Friday night.
