Raiders down Rebels

LYNN, Ind. – Jake Wissel surrendered eight runs over 5 2/3 innings, but only three were earned as Wapahani handed Randolph Southern an 11-0 Mid-Eastern Conference defeat on Wednesday.
Aaron Jones had two hits for the Rebels (1-1), while Travis Frame also singled.

The Rebels play host to Centerville Saturday for a doubleheader.

Patriots win opener

Union County opened the season with a 5-2 win in eight innings over Batesville at Liberty Park Tuesday.

Hunter Hartman picked up the victory on the mound for the Patriots, while Isaak Snyder had two hits and drove in a run.

Tigers edged

PARKER CITY, Ind. – A walk-off, RBI, infield single with the bases loaded gave Monroe Central a 5-4 victory over Hagerstown Wednesday.
It’s the third one-run loss for Hagerstown (1-3) after the Tigers dropped a pair of 2-1 decisions at New Castle Saturday.

“We’re a little disappointed, it’s the third game we lost by one run, so we’re playing good enough to win, just not getting it done,” Hagerstown coach Chuck Green said by phone.

Erin Hoodlebrink and Stephanie Burns each had two hits to lead Hagerstown, while Gabby Willis doubled.

The Tigers open up TEC play tonight at Union County.

UC wins

HAMILTON, Ohio – Tanner Henry doubled in the game-winning run in the third inning Wednesday as Union County stopped Ross (Ohio) 1-0.

Allison Franklin struck out four and picked up the pitching win for the Patriots, who also defeated North Decatur 9-4 on Tuesday.

Madison Walters and Alisha Burkhead each had two hits in that game, while Burkhead drove in three runs, and Walters doubled and drove in one for UC.

The Patriots (2-2) fell 4-3 and 8-7 in a doubleheader Saturday at Cowan.

Union County plays host today to TEC foe Hagerstown.

Blazers win big

UNION CITY, Ind. – Haylee Moreland went 4-for-5 with a pair of triples as National Trail handled Union City 14-5 on Wednesday.

The Blazers put up 20 hits, including three each from Nicole Witt and Marisa Wilson.

Witt and Wilson also had two RBIs, and Wilson doubled and scored three runs. Aleah Hunt also tripled for Trail and Meagan Rogers hit a home run.

The Blazers (2-1) play Friday at home against Tri-Village.

Rebels fall

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Ind. – Tia Seymour had three hits and Olivia Slick and Taylor York each had two, but Randolph Southern was plagued by 10 errors Wednesday, falling 11-2 at Eastern Hancock.

York’s hits were both doubles, while Morgan Acton had one.

Sarah Snider struck out seven Royals over three innings of relief work.

The Rebels (0-1) play at Centerville today.

Falcons win opener

WINCHESTER, Ind. – Winchester opened its season with a 3-2 victory over South Adams Wednesday.
Justice Peed (No. 1) and Karan Huang (No. 3) won singles matches for the Falcons (1-0), while Kari Brown and Emily White teamed to win at No. 2 doubles.

Jack Willis struck out 10 Indians over five innings as Centerville defeated Union City 16-6 on Tuesday.
Andrew Walter led the Bulldogs with two hits, including a double and four RBIs, while Brandon Anderson doubled and drove in two runs.

David Hatch had a hit and an RBI.

Centerville (1-0) plays Friday at Cowan.

Pats fall

Batesville defeated Union County 7-5 on Tuesday.
